It is has been one wet week up here in the city. We had storms every single day this week. They were very consistent which was nice. We would have a lovely sunny morning followed by a cool cloudy afternoon and by 5 the dark ominous clouds would clog the sky. Thunder and lightning and wind and hail. It was nuts! We got into quite the situation on Friday night. The rain was coming down so fast and hard that the streets began to flood. You would think that a city that is familiar with hurricanes would have better drainage but apparently not. Well Dad I remembered you telling me when I was learning to drive to not drive through standing water that is too deep. Don't worry I didn't forget. We just didn't apply it. We were about 100 feet from our apartment when we came to puddle that was more like a lake. We either had to stop in the middle of the intersection and make an angry Houston driver even more mad or drive on. So we drove but only so far before the car would drive no longer. We were stuck. I thought I'll just get out and push. But the lighting was too frequent and was touching down like all around the area so we just hung tight. We couldn't open the doors either because the water was like up my door a foot or so. All was good until Sis. Moreno pointed out that the back floor had already taken on water. Soon the front starting to fill. It was great. Eventually the Elders came to our rescue. They hooked us up to the mission truck and towed us the rest of the way home. I now know why it is good to have a truck or two in the mission. When we got to the apartment we bailed out the water and put towels in the floor. After she dried out she turned on like a champ. Miracle. We have now learned how to save a water damaged car and properly clean the floors of a car. Man it was nuts. Enjoy the pictures of our adventure.
This week we saw lots of awesome miracles. We decided in ward council that we as a ward want to work on reactivation. It is incredible how when a priesthood leader makes a Spirit driven decision the acts just follow. We in the 3 areas that make up the ward were able to make several successful contacts with less actives that people have been trying for months to get a hold of. We have return appointments with all that we contacted. The Lord is so willing to support us in our righteous actions!
Another awesome miracle is our investigator C. She is still coming to church and reading and progressing in all the right ways and her husband is still holding her back. She called us this morning and told us of an awesome experience she had. She was studying about fasting in order to prepare for fast Sunday. She started with a prayer and said that see learned and understood all she read. Her husband then came in a started being really ugly to her. But she said that she felt complete peace! She is learning to understand the gospel and the Spirit despite the fact that she cannot meet with us. Proving that it is the scriptures and the Holy Ghost that convert...not the missionaries. She decided on her own to fast for her husband that he may see that this is the direction that she wants her life to take! We are going to join her in that fast this Sunday. I know that miracles are going to continue to happen in her life.
Other than that this week we painted two more houses! I will also add a picture of S and I at the bottom. He is the son of one of our members and I think that he looks just like a blonde Taylor but I could be totally off. He is picture worthy regardless.
I love you so much and I am looking forward to talking to you in a few weeks! I cannot believe that May is already around the corner.
Have a great week :)
