Back on the bikes we go! Our car is in the shop for about 2 weeks so we have been biking. The area is not set up to be on bikes so we have to bike forever it seems to get any where. And the way the week has gone we have had to bike to the mission office almost everyday this week multiple times a day. The trek is about 3 miles each way so we have been putting some miles on our bikes. But the change of pace and exercise has been nice. Exercising really does make you happier. Even when it rains! Thankfully we only got rained on once on our way to the Sunday morning session of conference. So we were able to sit and dry off for a bit. But our days of biking are probably at an end because Sister Moreno has a bad back and she has been in some pain the past few days. The elders were kind enough to let us borrow their mini van ;) So we will be riding in that for the next week or so until the car is done.
General Conference or known around here as the Mormon Super Bowl. Didn't we get some great counsel?! I had trouble picking a favorite talk this time. I know as I study them more in the coming weeks that ones will start to stick out. As of right now I really loved the talk from Wilford Andersen and Dale Runlund. Also Sister Wixom. I just love the time we have every 6 months to sit and unwind and feast upon the words of our Heavenly Father. We watched conference at the church building all 4 sessions. C our investigator came to all of Saturday but woke up with a flat on Sunday :( Bummer that she couldn't come. But we also gave her The Family Proclamation and she loved it! She wants to frame it and put it in her home.
Other than conference our week has been pretty average. We have been having a lot of success trying formers and OYMing. We are also busy talking to some one which is a nice change of pace from my last areas. I actually feel like I am working up here. But due to the type of neighborhood it is there are more people out. For example we ended up talking to these 3 guys for almost 30 minutes. People love to talk about God out here! Everyone just has so many different opinions which makes change for them really hard. We can talk for days and nothing could get accomplished. We have been talking a lot as a mission about finding the elect. Those that will hear the words and not harden their hearts to the things that we teach. I know they are out there and I know we are close to finding them. Sifting the wheat from the tares is the labor we are called to do.
I am having a great time up here. I am getting to know the ward a little bit better which is usually my favorite part. They make the work so much more enjoyable :) That is what I miss the most from my old areas. All the members I got to meet and work with.
We were blessed to teach so many inspired lessons this week. There is a huge difference when you know you are working with the Spirit not just doing what you think you should do. We have been so blessed and are having fun! Some days I let Satan have so much room in my mind and heart but more and more each day I am seeing the good that is happening all around us. We just have to open our spiritual eyes and put our trust in Christ. I loved that talk in conference too.
I guess that sums it up for this week!
I love you all so much and love seeing the memories you are making :) We are so blessed!
