I feel like we haven't seen the sun in days. And when there is no sun there are no people. It is awesome. But we did have a lot of opportunities to serve again this week.
We helped a woman in the ward clean up her house and bake for a party she was having. We helped Sister S clean up and organize her computer room. We all know what that room turns into ha. The dump and run room.
Oh my lanta! The craziest thing happened to us last Monday right as Pday was ending. So we were baking brownies at the church for a recent convert to take over for FHE. So we put them in the oven and go in the other room to finish writing. We go back in and the entire kitchen is full of smoke. You could not see a thing. We ran to the back door and opened it. We were hoping the fire alarm wouldn't go off but we didn't catch it in time. So there we are at the church while the alarm is going off in all it's glory. Luckily the Elders were still there and they are trying to turn it off for us. It is hard to be in the kitchen with all the smoke so I am crawling trying to turn off the oven and get the brownies out. It was a sight to see for sure. Finally after 15 minutes the Elders called the South Shore Bishop because he lives the closest to the building. He comes and turns off the alarm and by that point most of the smoke is gone. The entire church just reeks! The bishop told us that the oven turned on to any setting will turn the broiler on. Yea. It was supposed to be fixed a few weeks ago. Apparently not. And they didn't think to check it. Needless to say the brownies were toast. Picture included.
We had a miracle in the Seabrook ward yesterday. The Bishop pulled the missionaries into his office and there was a woman sitting there. She told us that she met an LDS man online and after 6 months of meeting with him they have decided to get married! He is totally active and has been sharing his beliefs with her. She wants to be baptized and came to church on Sunday to tell us. They are getting married by the Bishop in less than 2 weeks. She will either be baptized the last week of March or the beginning of April depending on how the wedding and everything plans out. Most likely it will be in April though. She also has a 16 year old son who is looking in to it as well. He has a great desire to be sealed to his mom and future step dad. She loved church and is excited to be a part of Relief Society. We are so excited to work with them.
Due to many things we were not able to teach as much as we would have hoped but we will just work harder this week. There are just those weeks where you feel like you are sitting in meetings all the time. Can't help it sometimes. We did have a great Zone Conference though!
We are doing pretty good. Have so much fun at Spring Training this weekend. I am jealous. I know I will make it there eventually.
I love you all,
Sister Greaves
