Y'all were right! I moved up north. Not all the way up to downtown but my
area does cover a section on the city of Houston...not saying much though.
Even though my last area was over 50 miles away we were right next to the
Houston city limits there too because of NASA.
I am one of 3 sets in the Alief ward. We cover parts of Stafford, Houston,
Sugar Land and Meadows Place. It is a smaller area. We go from Eldridge to
the 59 and Bissonnet to the 90. It is a whole lot different than the
coastline. We cover the international district! We are teaching people from
Nigeria, Pakistan, South America and other parts of Africa. It is crazy. I
love it! Our ward is so diverse. There is not one dominate race and so it
is very different than what I am used to. The way we work with members is
also different and will take some getting used to and well. Oh and the
S's are in my ward! It is so fun to be serving with them!
My companion is Sister Moreno! We came in together! She is originally from
Venezuela but lived in Florida before the mission. She is super awesome and
hard working. It is nice to not be training and to be with someone who has
some experience as well. We push each other but we also have a really good
time. I have been really happy with her so far. It has been awhile since I
have has this complete joy. Plus for the first time in awhile I feel like
a missionary. We are purpose driven and there are always people out and
about here to Oym. I feel so much better when I am more fully doing the
things I am set apart to do. I love teaching and realized how much I have
missed it. Things are different here. I am different here. I have a new
found courage and desire to do more. I have no idea what has changed but I
am grateful for whatever it may be. Ok I know it has a lot to do with the
Atonement of our Savior Jesus Christ. Speaking of which. Happy early
EASTER! Go visit helives.mormon.org . I love the videos the church puts
out. Share it with all you know. It will invite the Spirit into their
lives!
So I was blessed with a very wonderful goodbye in Seabrook. The Sisters had
a lunch for me so I could say goodbye to more people without having to
drive all over the place. There was also a craft night that night which had
more sisters there. I felt very loved and appreciated which always is a
nice way to leave an area. I felt a definite confirmation that I did all
that I needed to do in Seabrook. I wasn't able to see J and M or
W or Jl so that was a little sad :/ I will send a note to each of
them soon though and I know that I will be informed if they get baptized so
I can be there.
Miracle! I was able to go to the temple for J's endowment. Not only
that but I was finally able to finish all of Myrtle Glasses work. I have
been working on her for almost 2 years now. Both myself and my comp got to
do a family name. The spirit in the session was one of the strongest I have
ever felt . I know it was a combination of all the factors. When I got to
see J we both just cried. We knew how much it took to get there and
being able to be there together was so rewarding. I didn't want to leave. I
am so grateful that despite my move that I was able to go with her.
Something not so fun. We got in an accident. Mom before you freak out
nothing bad happened! Promise. We just need a new bumper and side mirror. A
young lady tried to pass us on the left as we were turning left. My
companion was driving. No one was going fast so not much was done. But she
hit our bumper just right to take it halfway off. I will attach the
picture. Best part is that while we were waiting we taught her the
Restoration and Plan of Salvation! She was super nice and we are going to
stop by her place later this week!
It was one crazy busy week. Probably one of the best of my mission so far.
Seriously. I feel so much joy and I know it will only get better from here.
I may be losing time quickly but there is so much to be done. I am so
blessed to be able to serve the Lord.
I love y'all so much!!
