Howdy!
This week we got to Meet the Halls! I am not sure if you have gotten the link yet but we have a facebook page now for the mission and they put the video they showed us on there. I think if you search The THSM on facebook you will find the page. But don't quote me. I obviously haven't been on there. He and his family are awesome though. We had a great time getting to know them on Wednesday. He is very exciting and wants us to be excited as well. Works for me. Being a missionary is no fun when you are being boring! I know the best days are the days we have taken time to just love people and show them that we do! I am so excited to get to work with him.
The video perfectly sums up his personality. haha you will love it .
The 4th was a good day! We started the morning at the Meadow's Place parade. We just met at a members home and watched it with the people of the ward that came. It was really fun.
The Elder on the far end is from Lake Elsinore! He actually belongs to the Mission Bend ward so he was just there on exchanges. It was a good morning so we walked to the Meadows from our apartment and handed out pass along cards as we walked down the street. We met one man who just lost his wife last Monday. We talked to him about the Plan of Salvation. I know he was placed on our path for a reason. He told us he is in a stage of mourning right now that he just wants to blame God but that he wants to have more hope. We told him to read the pamphlet and that we would stop by again soon.
That night we could see a firework show perfectly from our porch. Just a tender mercy from the Lord showing us how much He loves us. I was so happy! I missed the fireworks last year so I am glad I to to celebrate it that way. And yes Dad we had an awesome brisket and jalapeno black beans for dinner :)
Just got back from the driving range with the Houston 4 Elders. Safe to say I am a terrible golfer. I guess that one time I went to the driving range when I was 10 didn't do me much good. I thought all of those mini golf dates at BYU would have done the trick though. Guess not. We had fun though. I am glad we got out and did something today. Even though we are in a huge city there just isn't many things for missionaries to do.
Other than that this week was mostly just doing service for people in the area. We are helping someone sand down all their woodwork so they can repaint. And we helped Beatrice again. It was exciting this go around because we were out in her driveway cleaning up the garage and a random Texas downpour hit us. We were drenched! We had to grab all of her stuff we just took out and run it back into the garage.
I wrote y'all a letter as well so most of the investigator news is included in that!
I love you! Thanks for sending me pictures of the Fam...I cannot believe how grown up everyone is just after a year. I didn't recognize half of them at first.
Keep working on those testimonies for me! The people in Alief need to hear from you too!
