Bawo ni!
That is Nigerian for how are you?! Oh how I love my African friends! They are so awesome.
Today President Hall landed in Houston. It is so weird to think that President Ashton is gone.
He is a good man and very wise. I am grateful that I was able to serve along side them for over a year. They are the most faithful and consecrated people I know. They will be so missed. We had a farewell conference with them last week. It was the trunkiest thing I have ever been to. They talked to us about making a life vision and how to work with the Lord to achieve it. It launched me into the real world and made me a little worried that I have pretty much no plans after the mission. But they gave me greater hope that the Lord does have a plan and little by little he will lay it out before us. He will open doors that we cannot open ourselves. Faith is the key. Saying goodbye was bitter sweet. I know I will see them again but still. They have been my tutors for the past year and it will be odd to not have them around. They gave us all their contact info but we can't get in touch until we are released. Thankfully I only have to wait 5 months :)
We will meet the Halls on Wednesday. I am excited to start working with them and learn all that I can from them in the next little while. I know that the keys of the Priesthood now lie with him and we can succeed if we heed his counsel.
We found out yesterday that Festus is moving to another ward :( I was heart broken. The last few months working with him have been the greatest moments of my mission. We have been teaching with him and his testimony is so strong. The Spirit is very abundant with him. It will be hard but I know the people in the Memorial Ward need him now. We are hoping to attend the temple with him in the next two weeks. I am so selfish and just want to keep him here in Alief!
But I found out today that Jacquie's mom is getting baptized in Seabrook this weekend and I should be able to attend! I am just SO happy. I have just been beaming from ear to ear all day since I have heard. Right before I left Seabrook her mom started coming to church. My last Sunday she said she wanted to be baptized so she could be sealed to her family in the temple. She saw the difference the gospel made in Jacquie's life and wants it for herself. But the only hold up was she lived just barely out of the mission boundaries in Pasadena. I guess they got it all worked out! I am so so so excited. Plus I will get to see all the members again. I love them all so much!
Having some hold ups with Victor. He is just not making the changes that he needs to and we can't work with him if he wont work with us. He is willing to meet and learn but not act. This Gospel doesn't work if you don't give something in return. We were hoping even the smallest of steps would be taken but no such luck. It is a bummer considering all the progress he made in the beginning. Maybe missionaries in the future will be able to help him further.
I guess that wraps it up for the week.
One thing I would LOVE for all of you to do would be to email me your testimonies of the Book of Mormon so I can include them in the copies we deliver to people. I want to hear from ALL of you.
Thanks so much.
I love you!!!
