Technically not but you would think it was. It is hot and humid :)
I just have to remind myself the best is yet to come.
Not so much rain this week but tons of lightning. We are grateful for a rain break. Our car is mostly dry but stinks like wet dog ha so we have to drive with the windows down most of the time. Just a great reminder!
This week was busy with teaching. Never thought I would say that about my mission. Usually busy week are filled with service and meeting but that is not the case for last week! We taught a lot! And it felt so good! We were able to teach or at least contact 5 less actives. Most of them were receptive and wanted us to come back again. A few were rude but hey you win some you loose some. We got into the home of two wonderful women who are so ready to come back to the church. I am excited to work with them in the next few weeks...seeing that I make it through transfers.
We are still a little lacking in the investigator department but we were able to teach a few this week. J and C and still doing well. I am going to write y'all a letter telling more about them today!
One experience that has stuck with me this week happened in the home of a couple we were teaching. We were talking about the Godhead and our relationship to divinity. The lesson was getting contentious because they believe very differently than we do on the matter. We explained that we simply teach what we know and invite you to pray to know for yourself. It was not improving so I bore my testimony to close the lesson. They laughed. They thought that what I believed was so far from true that they literally laughed. I finished my testimony and once again invited them to read the Book of Mormon and pray. Then we had a closing prayer. During the prayer I was watching them and a great sense of love and peace came over me. God loves them. Their spiritual eyes are closed right now and that is why they do not open their hearts to our message. They are not bad people. They are just not prepared people. Being mocked was not the hard part. The hard part was seeing that they think they have it all. They "know" the Bible so well that they see no need to open their hearts for something more. Needless to say we dropped them but I hope that they will one day see the light of the gospel and not reject it.
I am grateful for moments like that which confirm to me that this is the correct and full doctrine of our Savior Jesus Christ. For one small moment I was blessed to stand in his shoes as a disciple. I always thought if that moment came it would hurt but it was the opposite. I felt the love that our Heavenly Father has for them. And I know that His love is great. I have felt it for myself and for others. Some days that all we have to work with.
Glad to hear that Nan and Keith are ok. That is nuts that they were there. I just found out about the earthquake yesterday. I would love to hear more about the story. Also happy to hear you got the house. Can we just take a moment to appreciate that you have almost moved more than I have on my mission?! You two are having too much fun as empty nesters
I love you :)
