Howdy!
So this week has been SO great! Seriously. We were blessed in so many ways.
First we were able to have a lesson with F again this week and he is on track to get baptized on Saturday. We have been seeing him everyday and the more we see him the more we know he is ready to accept the Gospel. He is already living the Word of Wisdom and the Law of Chastity and understands that they are things that God has given to us to protect and bless us. He is very spiritual and willing to act on the faith that he has. His family and friends are already planning on coming to the service and one of them wants to meet with us when we meet with F tomorrow. This was a man that just fell into our hands prepared. Just proving that the Spirit is preparing people long before we get to them. I am not sure if I already told you but F is a young man from Sierra Leon West Africa and he came to the US a few months ago and is now studying to become a nurse.
We were able to have a few good lessons with V this week but he wouldn't come to church..even when we woke him up and went to his apartment. He was too tired. So fingers crossed for next week. He is making good progress though and he said that he can tell his thought process and prayers are changing. Things are much more spiritual for him now he says. We will keep seeing him 2x a week for now until his progress changes.
One very sweet highlight of my week was playing with a friends 8 week old cocker spaniel... I was in love with her :)
We also had a ton of success with less actives this week! We met for the first time and had lessons with 2 women. One of them is a super cute 21 year old. The other is an older woman who is taking care of her sick mom and son. It was sad because right as we came this past week. Her mentally ill son was being taken away to a hospital because he stopped taking his meds and wasn't functioning well to be on his own. She says this happens multiple times a year and it is just wearing her out. We also saw our regular people. MIRACLE! We had like 6 less actives and their families come to church on Sunday. It was a full house in the Alief ward. It was nice to see all those people there and see them talk with their long time friends they have not seen in a long time. Most important;y I know that each of them felt the Spirit and will start progressing much faster with that added strength.
We helped out with Bishop's storehouse as well on Saturday which I had never been a part of before. It is super cool watching the process and then helping people gather the food and supplies they need.
The weather has been tons of fun lately. We have been having awesome thunderstorms and then beautiful cool evenings. I am going to enjoy every last one because I know out good days our numbered. And sorry Taylor...it isn't hot and humid quite yet. Come back in July and you will really not want to live here. ha Sounds like you had a good time at the games :)
And to wrap it all up I got to spend like and hour this morning with Sister Wilson! Oh it was the best seeing her again. It brought back tons of memories of Texas City. She gave us all the updates in the real world and of course for the branch. B is going through the temple soon! I am SO happy for him.
Overall it has been a week full of JOY! It is amazing the miracles that come when you try and do all you can to help the people come unto Christ. I have stepped very far out of my comfort zone this week and I am grateful that Heavenly Father blessed our efforts. This work is slow and frustrating and exhausting mentally but worth it! I don't know how I can feel it is both but it is.
Many days are just hard and seem pointless but as the weeks go on it all starts adding up :)
I love you!
