Well I was officially banished to end my mission. I am serving in the Victoria ward which is the farthest area to the west. We are 100 miles from Houston and out in the middle of nowhere. We actually are closer to San Antonio than Houston. I love it though. Our area is over an hour wide and covers all of the ward boundaries except for "downtown". The Elders are on a bike and cover that central part of Victoria. There are so many little towns of about 1000 all around us. We don't have enough miles to cover all of them so it is just a nuts little area to serve in. Seriously just look up the ward boundaries on Lds.org and marvel for yourself. I love it though because it is quiet and you can see the stars every night that it is clear. And the weather is better out here it seems. Not so humid and we have a good breeze...probably because there is nothing in the way haha.
I am follow up training Sister D from West Valley Utah. She will most likely have the pleasure of killing me. I cannot believe that I am on my second to last transfer! She is so cute though and super prepared to be a missionary. A natural teacher :) I love working with her. We have a good time together. We are both 100% over our heads with this huge area and that fact that neither of us know anyone. Instant humility right there. We are just going a day at a time.
Right now we are working with a woman named M. She has a date for next weekend but she didn't come to church last week so we aren't sure if we want to move forward with it yet. We are also working with her granddaughter K. She is 13 and she loves all the young women. She is living in a different situation right now so we are kinda have to take it slowly with her but I think she will be baptized before I leave. She is ready she just need the support.
The ward is really big in numbers which is awesome....but there are a ton of less actives and because we don't have the miles we can't easily go and see if they still live there. So we are trying to make a game plan of how we can better do reactivation in this area. I love working with less actives so I need to figure it out soon.
Oh and I found out a weird connection at church yesterday. When I was in the MTC I hung out with a solo sister going to Denmark, Sister R. She was awesome. While at church yesterday I met the R family and asked if there was any relation. Then I remembered that she was from Victoria Texas! Her brother lives in the ward still and all her nieces and nephews. Day made :) There was a littler girl that was so happy that I knew her. She should be home soon too so I hope I will run into her here.
I am not sure what else to say. I love the area. I love the mission and all is well :)
Good luck with the surgery, Dad. I will say an extra prayer for you that day. Thanks for the trunkie pictures. Surprisingly, I am not too trunkie right now. I have so much to figure out and I know I am on a time crunch so I think it is more motivating than anything. Weeks are ticking by and before I know it I will back in California.
I love y'all so much :))
