I can honestly say this has been the most interesting week of my mission thus far. Mom to answer your questions...We didn't leave the house much this week ( I will explain later) so no we weren't in the heat too much. But we don't receive weather warnings (well other than tornado) so even if there was a heat warning we would be out any way. I actually had Texas Sheet Cake for the first time last night and no it was not as good as Dad's. No, we cannot go into the home of a single man unless there is a 3rd female with us. We just teach outside a lot.
Alright, like I said, this week was one to remember. On Tuesday we found out that a member was going to the hospital in Houston. We knelt in prayer as an apartment and asked what we could do to serve them. All four of us went to Houston. Like we would have to get permission to leave our mission to go there. So we did. We called the Elders and they got the same answer. Miracle #1--we were all able to find members who were ready to just up and leave for Houston for the day. We got delayed for about 30 minutes before we left so we missed our original 1:45 departure time. We kept on going. I prayed the entire way there that we would be doing the right thing because when we left we had no idea where the hospital was or what we would do when we got there. Miracle #2-- We didn't hit traffic at all on the drive - in Houston! - that never happens. Miracle #3--The hospital was right off the tollway and we saw their car right when we got in the parking lot. The best moment was when we walked into the lobby. They were right inside the door on their way out. It was just us and them. If we had been 2 minutes later they would have been in their car and gone. Never have I felt so guided by the Spirit. I know without a doubt we did the Lord's will that day.
Wednesday we had zone conference from 8am to 4pm. President Ashton did studies with us and we got to do role plays for a bit. It was a wonderful meeting but the best part of the day came after the conference when we met as a Zone. This week we had a goal to baptize 6 people in the Zone. As of Wednesday we didn't have one person ready for the weekend. With two potentials on the board, we decided we had to commit to repenting that night and asking the Lord for more faith. As soon as we committed to repent the board became full of the names of potential people who would be ready to be baptized. God is so willing to open our mind and bless us if we turn back to Him. We only ended up with 3 baptisms but our faith increased and our prayers became more sincere. We still also have all those names that we can work with in the upcoming weeks.
On Thurday and Friday I went to Galveston on exchanges. I love the island so much. Out of anywhere in the mission that is where I would want to live. It is beautiful! I got to spend the whole day biking the island and seeing all the history it has. I was on exchanges with a Spanish speaking sister so teaching lessons was a bit of an adventure. The other sister mostly just translated for me but luckily living with Hermana Duncan for a month has prepared me a bit more to teach in Spanish.
On Saturday we went to League City for the day because there was baptisms and a stake activity. It was nice to go to a church building for a change!
Although I only set foot in my area two times this week, I have learned and witnessed so much. I am just so thankful to my Heavenly Father for the miracles and blessings He allows us to see everyday.
I love and miss you all!
Have a great week!
