Yep. The Alief Ward has been giving the nickname " Refiner's Fire"
I am beginning to see why. I am grateful though because I have learned more here than any other area. Ok, maybe not but it feels like that sometimes. We had a really rough ward council yesterday. I almost cried. Y'all know how frustrated I have to get to actually cry. It was terrible.
Basically we were told we wont be able to take F to the temple before he moves even though Bishop promised us we would. It is out of our hands and we will just have to pray that we will be able to contact him enough to coordinate a trip in a few weeks. He did get ordained to the Aaronic Priesthood yesterday. I was SO happy. He made a deal that he wouldn't move till next Monday so we could watch him pass the sacrament. I am like his mother! But I will truly miss him. He is amazing and on track to do many good things.
We also had another lesson with N this week. We taught her about baptisms for the dead and the temple. She was so excited to know that she could help her family come to our Savior.
She is planning on getting baptized on August 1st. She is very kind and takes in every word that we say. I am so happy to be working with her and we hope that she starts taking those steps that will help her to repent and come unto Christ. She is prepared.
Something hilarious happened this week in our Zone meeting. We were setting our monthly baptism goal and they came to our companionship. Our only shot at baptism was is Nene came to church on Sunday. So jokingly I asked "Can you put us down for half a baptism?" They pity laughed and went to mark a one on the board. Halfway through the tally mark the chalk broke. They were really laughing then. I am not sure why people still doubt me ;)
I had a chance to have my first interview with President Hall this week. He is really awesome. I wish I got to serve with him longer. You can tell he really cares for you and wants to help you with anything. We talked about me and my mission for about 20 minutes. I loved every second of it.
He is all about making sure we are happy and finding joy in the work. He is helping us to set goals so we feel like we are progressing and helping us to see that good that is there, which is something I really needed help with. This afternoon we played volleyball and basketball with his family. I love them!
I also had a chance to go on exchanges this week with Hermana Smith. She is the other sister that came out with me. We haven't really been around each other most of the mission so it was good to get to know her and serve with her for a day. She is so sweet and I know she has a genuine love for all she meets. We were able to talk about real world stuff which was nice. I was able to get another opinion on it all.
We were blessed again with many opportunities to serve in people's homes this week. This area is full of people who are not afraid to let us serve them and I love it. We spend a few hours every few days helping people paint or clean or fold clothes or whatever they need. It has been a good way to get to know the members and soften their hearts.
Oh I was reading the "Proclamation" the Mayor of Houston wrote to the mission and guess what Mom!? June 24, 2015 is officially "Mormon Helping Hands Day" in the City of Houston!!! Now you share your birthday with basically the coolest day in Houston :) It was really neat the things that they wrote. I forgot to take a picture of it today so I will send it to y'all next week.
Things are going well. The transfer is starting to wind to a close and Sister Moreno and I may be spending our last few weeks together. We may have one transfer let together but since we are already on 3 it is more likely one of us will leave.
Have a wonderful week!
I love y'all SO much :))
