Sorry we had service yesterday so our Pday was moved to today. From now on I should be writing you every Monday! It has been hard not saying anything for 2 whole weeks! So sorry this is going to be fast paced. I am serving in Texas City and my companion is Sis. Calton. It is a lot like Hemet. The weather is often hot and humid but we are on bikes and the breeze helps keep us cool. We live with 2 other sisters. And the Elders are around the corner. All 6 of us serve in the tiny branch. Our church building is in a strip mall behind a gas station but it works. There are only about 50 people in each meeting. Over 75% of the ward is inactive but still that is only like 115 people. So there is alot of work to be done here in Texas City. My area is from the 146 to bay st. and north of Palmer all the way to Moses Lake. Yep you guess we bike alot during the day. We definitely sleep well at night.
Being on bikes allows us to talk to everyone! It is wonderful! We have OYMed (open your mouth) many potential investigators. People in Texas love to talk to strangers, especially about God which is both a blessing and a curse.
Many people have a great faith in Jesus Christ and so the Spirit is already working well in their lives. It is amazing having the Spirit as you teach. It creates such an amazing atmosphere.
We are really working with a Woman named C. She is looking for a better relationship with Christ and she loves the feelings she gets when we come. She says her whole day is better when we come. I love her so much and am sad she is moving soon. We are also workin with a boy named B he is young and his parents don't want him to join so we are facing some challenges there. He is a very special boy and is doing the best he can in his situation.
Thanks daddy for the Maltesers they we a happy surprise and did well on the journey here. Don't mail anything to the apt address. We never check it. If you already did let me know and I will be sure to check it when I can.
We gave service at a Baptist church food bank in Galveston. The reverend there is hilarious and loves having us around. It was a wonderful experience.
I am doing well and love and miss you all. I will write you a more in depth letter today (when and if I have time)
Texas is a great place to be and I am excited to be here and help as much as I can.
Till next week!
Love, Sister Greaves
